July 18 2007, Kloosterhaaar, Route 21; Engbertsdijksvenen Heidepad 5 km. Area in (nature) development, kind of ‘back to the future’ situation. Interesting trail, and you can easily extend your hike to more than 20 km! The scenery provides a remarkable clear horizon, at least from a Dutch perspective.. for miles around no man-made structures on the horizon. Interesting also from a historical perspective; it provides an excellent inside in how peat was acquired in the old days an put to good use… Trail can be very muddy and wet and the visitor center at the entrance seems to be closed for some time already…?
